Booklets can be used for several reasons because of its versatility. Unlike posters, booklets have the option of having many pages to place items. This allows for more creative freedom to design each individual page. You are more likely to have run into a booklet at a counter than a poster or flyer.
Catalogues are great because you can compile all your products in one handy book. This allows your customers to browse your entire product list without having to visit the store. Stationery stores, furniture stores and clothing stores are some of the common businesses that use booklets. However, any business that has a large product list can use booklets as well. Especially if they are unable to hold all the products in the store.
When conducting a course, it is useful to have a manual to hand out to participants because they will be able to remember the content more. If you have been to a course or lecture in school where you were not handed out a manual, you will understand the difficulties. This is especially so when the course is very in depth and has a lot of crucial information to remember. With a course manual, participants have something to bring home to refer to when needed.
There are various ways to bind your booklet based on your desired layout and information flow.
Saddle stitch is probably the cheapest and most common form of binding. Pages are folded in half and stapled to the fold line. This ensures that your booklet can be opened in a flat manner and no information is lost in the middle. However, the problem with this binding method is that there is a limit on the number of pages that can be bound together. If your booklet is less than 100 pages, this method is ideal.
Perfect bound is a process of glueing each piece of paper onto a spine. This gives the booklet a sturdier feel and unlike saddle stitching, has no paper limit. Therefore, most perfect bound prints are usually novels, catalogues and textbooks. This method, although more expensive then saddle stitching is preferred because it allows a spine print. This allows books to stand out on a bookshelf or stand. It also makes it easier for readers to pick out booklets that they are looking for without having to browse everything.
Coil binding, also known as spiral bound, involves punching holes on the edge of each piece of paper and then placing a metal coil through the holes to hold them together. This way of binding is preferred over saddle stitching because it allows the booklet to lie flat on any page. They are commonly used in journals and calendars. The holes on the pages might take up some real estate. However, they allow users to flip and hold the booklet much easier than with a saddle-stitched booklet.
Regardless of the uses you have or the way it is bound, booklets are a great marketing tool. Booklets are fairly inexpensive and can be sent as direct mailers to your customers. People are 30% more likely to open a booklet that they have been sent over a flyer. This is because booklets give you the impression of importance. A well-designed booklet cover can also help to ensure that your customers look through it. Moreover, you can place your company logo and contact information on the books to receive leads.
